About me

My name is Caroline E. Cronin and I am from Concord, Mass. I graduated last January (2012) from Elon University, which is located in Elon, North Carolina. I majored in Strategic Communications, which focuses on advertising, public relations and marketing.

Since graduation, I have been employed by a international student exchange company in Cambridge. My role mostly focuses on customer service, managing finances and tracking necessary compliance to fulfill the Department of State’s regulations and requirements. My job has introduced me to some of my best friends and has certainly helped ease my move back from NC to the Boston area.

Here’s a bit more about me and my past job experiences. If you’re interested in any more details, please look at my resume or just ask!

During January 2011 I had my first internship with Grove, a marketing firm located in Concord, Mass. This company mostly works with websites and Internet marketing, which was fascinating to observe and learn. I especially enjoyed the research I did about click-through advertisement success rates. I also spent a great deal of time understanding the importance of various website layouts and how the design of a site will effect it’s success.

After a wonderful month with Grove, I went and studied abroad in London for Spring of 2011. On top of traveling to some of the most incredible countries, I also got to spend the months I lived in London interning for WeddingTV. I worked with their new website director and assisted in the complete redesign of the site. Although an outside company (one similar to Grove) was constructing the new WeddingTV website, I was able to assist with the details and the display of the site. I edited the website’s archives and wrote new articles that could be posted to the site when it went live. I also helped create a new archive of wedding dresses, complete with images and information from dozens of designers. This new addition to the website allowed for more interaction and was expected to greatly increase traffic to the site. I was also put in charge of the social media for WeddingTV, which expanded beyond the website and allowed me to work on my networking skills, creating and maintaining relationships between other companies and WeddingTV.

My internship experiences very much changed my perception of what I could see myself doing after graduating. I loved the work I did for clients, and I loved helping and assisting them to make the most of their company. I loved using the Internet and using social media, utilizing my generation’s skills and integrating them into traditional marketing. I also learned that I had a passion for writing, which I never thought I could see myself doing. Whether or not this passion will come in through a career or just as a hobby, I’m so grateful that I am aware of it now.

Upon graduation, I plan to get my Real Estate License. I took the course last summer and will spend a few weeks studying before taking the exam. I have always had a passion for real estate, helping and watching my mom flip houses my whole life. We also used to go to open houses almost every weekend, just to get ideas on decorating our own home and to see what was on the market in town. For much of my childhood I wanted to be an architect too, so naturally I have a passion for this field.

In addition to house hunting and my newfound hobby of writing, I also love watching movies with friends and being outside, particularly in the summertime. I loved the summer job I had all through high school and college when I worked at a pool in my hometown. I enjoyed teaching and spending time with so many great kids, and I loved being close to the parents. I also really enjoy being by any sort of water, pools, lakes, and oceans. I’ve grown up around boats and now really enjoy whenever I can spend a day out on my father’s boat in Newport, RI.

Although North Carolina was a blast for four years, I now know I am a New Englander through and through.
